Baby Chicks

Following many, many messages asking if we have (baby) chicks. We have caved and reached out resulting in an odd ensemble of chicks. We are tentativly depading if we offer pre-orders.
 
These Babies MUST be Picked up during our first week of Hens Sales*
Friday, April 4th (Pre-Order Only) 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday, April 5th  9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Sunday, April 6th 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
 
The eldest of our chicks will be between 2 1/2 weeks old and off to an excellent start.
Our selection includes
Straight Run Bantams: Mostly Silkies
White Leghorn Pullets
Hatchery Assortment Egg Layer Pullets with a Variety of Breeds
 
These chicks are sold as is and within each section, only Leghorn pullets are sold by breed. The hatchery choice layer selection we received includes a few white egg layers, a few that are Marans which would lay a dark brown egg and some colored egg layers Cream Legbars included. The majority of the is made up of brown  and cream egg layers. As an assortment we cannot guarentee breed selection or availibility though have some guesses.
 
Everyone will be  2 ½ weeks of age (All White Leghorn Pullets and half of our Hatchery Assortment Egg Layer Pullets) or under. These should not be mixed with birds significantly differing in size and will need need supplemental heat. The Leghorns especially hatching 3/17/2025 would be a good age for the State Fair.
 
Any bantam chicks, Silkies here included, are sold as straight run, a mix of males and females, ideally half and half though this can vary especially among smaller orders. All other birds were purchased as sexed females, pullets or layer chicks. Those we’ve gotten from Hoover’s Hatchery in the past as sexed females have tended towards 95 to 97% acurate verus the 90% they advertise. Our rooster guarantee only applies to 2 to 4 month old pullets when purchased during our Hen Sales

Starting with chicks can be a delightful experience however, our primary poultry focus is in offering Started Pullets to backyard flock owners to help fund our Horseless Horse Youth Program.  Our Hen Sale with 2-4 months old is fast approaching for those who would like a head start on eggs and 100% Hens.
 
*No exceptions can be made for these chicks upon pick up dates.
